Animal-blessing rite slated at Lourdes

The Franciscan Academy of Lourdes University will mark the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi Oct. 3 with a blessing of the animals.

St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of the Franciscan Academy. Students, their families, and faculty and staff are invited to take their birds, cats, dogs, fish, and even stuffed animals, to be blessed.

The blessing is to be at 1:15 p.m. at the St. Francis Gubbio Statue on the campus of Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd.
