Help Bethlehem to hear

5/10/2013

After a March trip to Bethlehem to give hearing care to patients, including fitting 200 hearing aids, including 56 for children, as a volunteer representative of HearCare Connection of Fort Wayne, Ind., audiologist Dr. Randa Mansour-Shousher of Northwest Ohio Hearing clinic in Perrysburg is conducting a drive to collect donated hearing aids for use in the 2014 mission. HearCare Connection works with a wellness center in Bethlehem to provide hearing aids to people in Bethlehem, at Deheishe Refugee Camp and in other areas affected by occupation and other issues of the Palestinian Territories and Israel.

“The people at HearCare Connection are Christian-based, Lutheran; I'm Muslim, so it turned out to be [a] mutlifaith [mission],” Dr. Mansour-Shousher said. Both Muslim and Christian patients were treated.

Dr. Mansour-Shousher will distribute donation boxes to worship centers, churches, synagogues, and mosques starting Monday. To request a hearing aid collection box or for more information, contact Dr. Mansour-Shousher's office at 419-383-4012.
