Sylvania chamber, arts commission inducting her into Hall of Fame

The Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce and the Sylvania Community Arts Commission announced that it will induct noted artist Sister Jane Mary Sorosiak into the Distinguished Artist Hall of Fame, in cooperation with the City of Sylvania and Sylvania Township.

She will be honored as the 2014 Distinguished Artist. She has done work on mosaics on the Main Street Bridge and on banners that decorate the city. 

The hall of fame induction will be May 30 at the Sylvania Historical Village Train Barn. The event will feature gourmet grazing from these Sylvania area restaurants: Mancy’s Italian, Ciao Restaurant, Treo Restaurant, City BBQ, Chandler’s Café, Eston’s Gourmet Creations, and The Pinnacle/CPW Events. Wines will be provided by Heidelberg Distributing.

Tickets are available for $40 each or 2 for $75 and are available by email to pnowak@sylvaniachamber.org or by calling the chamber at 419-882-2135.

On May 31 and June 1, the Maple and Main Art and Wine Stroll will have a a juried art show, entertainment, and food and wine. Hours for the stroll are 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

This year's honorary event chairmen include Joe Zerbey of The Blade; Paul Devers and Jason Perry of Vin Devers; Sisters of Saint Francis; Kellie and Kevin Holeman-Szenderski of Clear Channel Communications; David and Joan Livingston of Lourdes University; Alan and Lisa Sattler of ProMedica Flower Hospital; John and Renee Ellis of Meijer; Sylvania Mayor Craig and his wife, Barbara; Sylvania Township Trustee John Jennewine and his wife, Erica; Tom McHugh of Heidelberg Distributing; and Douglas and Laura Glover of the Sylvania chamber.
