    The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo is inviting the public to a special lecture this Easter Sunday by Imam Talal Eid titled “A Qur’anic Perspective on Easter Sunday and Good Friday: A Positive Approach for American Muslims.”

    The talk is at 12:30 p.m. at the center, 25877 Scheider Rd., Perrysburg.

    Earth Day events

    TIFFIN — The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center at the Sisters of Saint Francis convent is hosting an Earth Day celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, followed by a butterfly-based lecture about Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on the environment at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

    Games, hikes, seed planting, tree climbing, wagon rides, water quality monitoring, and a tour of Franciscan Earth Literacy Center’s Straw Bale House will be featured at Sunday’s Earth Day celebration, an event designed for families.

    The Monday night lecture is titled “Pope Francis & the Monarch Butterfly: A Message from God’s Creation.” The talk will be presented by Hal Mann of the Toledo diocese.

    The center is at 194 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin. The events are free.

    Pray and heal

    The Maumee Indoor Theatre is hosting a free lecture at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in which Nathan Frederick, a Christian Science practitioner, will discuss ways in which he believes prayer can help heal mind and body.

    His talk, “Learn to Pray and Heal: A Spiritual Adventure,” explores faith that isn’t blind. It also is to show how to understand God as love itself, and how to express love unselfishly. The theater is at 601 Conant St., Maumee.

    First Church of Christ, Scientist in Maumee, 228 East Dudley St., is sponsoring the lecture. The church holds weekly Sunday services at 11 a.m. with Sunday school at the same time for students under 20. There is also a testimony meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. All are welcome to attend those services and meetings.

    Ministerial summit

    The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance has scheduled a conference May 3 to 5 at First Church of God, 3016 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo.

    The theme is “Shifting to a New Place in God.” Speakers include Bishop Michael Pitts at 7 p.m. May 3; the Rev. Otis Moss III at 7 p.m. May 4, and Bishop Brehon Hall at 7 p.m. May 5. The event includes a hip hop summit at 5 p.m. May 5.

    MultiFaith banquet

    Registration closes Easter Sunday for the 16th Annual MultiFaith Council of Northwest Ohio Banquet, “Countering Hate With Compassion,” to be held from 3 to 7 p.m. April 23 at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, 25877 Scheider Rd., Perrysburg.

    Included will be optional site tours or meditation, faith storytellers, a youth pizza party discussion about Welcome TLC and refugee needs, Heroes of Compassion, and a catered meal.
