VCHI Acquistion Co., of Columbus, which recently bought an 81 percent ownership of Value City Department Stores from Retail Ventures Inc., also of Columbus, said today that it is closing 37 of 113 stores that don t fit into its plans to revive the chain.

When it is finished, the owner will have 53 Value City stores and 23 other stores will be converted to Burlington Coat Factory outlets. VCHI is closing 14 Value City stores in Ohio.
