Owens Corning announces alliance with Chinese subsidiary

Toledo-based Owens Corning on Wednesday announced a strategic alliance with Taishan Fiberglass, a subsidiary of China National Materials Group.

The companies want to grow the use of alkali-resistant specialty glass products. Manufacturing will be based in China.

“We believe a bright future exists for glass reinforcements to be used in cement materials, the largest materials market in the world,” OC Group President Arnaud Genis said.

Taishan will concentrate on the China, Japan, Korea, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia markets, and Owens Corning will serve markets elsewhere.
