The Appliance Center Home Store is celebrating its 50th anniversary by helping to sponsor today’s Maumee-Perrysburg fireworks and by holding a merchandise giveaway next week.

“It’s our 50th anniversary, so we decided to celebrate by giving back to our community in a way that has never been done before," said John Oswald, who owns the store with his sister, Julie Oswald Abbey.

Starting on July 13, the Maumee retailer will hold drawings throughout the day to give away $50,000 in merchandise. Among the items to be given away will be kitchen packages, appliances, televisions, and lawn mowers.

Also, the first 50 households to enter the store at 321 Illinois Ave. that day will get $50 gift cards.
