Libbey Inc.’s outlet store has been in the Erie Street Market for years. It will open a seasonal outlet in Sylvania starting Thursday.

Libbey Inc. said Tuesday that it will open a second factory outlet later this week in Sylvania for the holiday shopping season.

The Toledo maker of stemware and other consumer glass products already has a permanent factory outlet in downtown Toledo where it sells its glass tableware and other products. This will mark the first time Libbey has opened a satellite seasonal store.

Jeff Joyce, Libbey's vice president for consumer sales and marketing, said the factory outlet is especially busy during the holidays and that Libbey wanted to provide easier access for West Toledo shoppers.

“We are excited to pilot this concept and see if there is potential for this in the future, here and at other locations,” Mr. Joyce said.

The Sylvania store will be in the Starlite Plaza at 5700 Monroe St. It is slated to open on Thursday and remain open seven days a week through Dec. 29.

The store will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Libbey has for years held a spot in the city-owned Erie Street Market downtown. The company, which also is headquartered downtown, signed a new five-year lease in August, 2012, to keep its outlet in the market.

The company says the seasonal store will have a variety of tabletop glassware items, home decoration items, and special decorated glassware for the holiday season.

“Our products are fun and trendy,” said Tom Lower, manager of the Libbey Glass Factory Outlet store.

Libbey also operates a factory outlet store in Shreveport, La., where its other U.S. manufacturing site is located, and has factory outlets near some of its international plants as well.
