Sears Outlet store will relocate to Airport Hwy.

Retailer plans to reopen at new site on April 4

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc. said Thursday it plans to relocate its Sears Outlet store in Perrysburg to a former Circuit City store at 6645 Airport Hwy. in Springfield Township.

The store plans to reopen April 4 in the new location. The outlet store is at 27322 Carronade Dr. in the Perrysburg Marketplace Shopping Center.

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores is an independent company spun off from Sears Holding Corp. in 2012.

It has 1,245 stores nationwide that operate in two segments: a hardware and hometown segment that focuses on appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools and household goods, and an outlet segment that sells appliances, apparel, mattresses, sporting goods, tools, and lawn and garden equipment.

The outlet-store format also specializes in new, one-of-a-kind, out-of-carton, discontinued, obsolete, used, reconditioned, overstocked, and scratch-and-dented merchandise at discount prices.

“The new Sears Outlet in Holland will be a paradise for shoppers who love to bargain-hunt,” said William McAdam, district sales manager for Sears Outlet, including the soon-to-be-opened Holland store.

The 27,383-square-foot store will occupy the former Circuit City that closed in 2009 when the electronics chain shut all 567 stores nationwide.

Circuit City operated as an Internet-only retailer until 2012, when it merged with another Web-based retailer, TigerDi-rect.com.

Since 2009, the Circuit City site on Airport Highway has been occupied by several seasonal retailers, including a Halloween-themed store.

However, it had yet to find a permanent tenant until Sears Outlet recently signed a lease with the site’s owner, Bennett Enterprises Inc.
