Voluntary recall of dry dog food expanded
9/2/2014Mars Petcare US is expanding a voluntary recall of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition dry dog food.
The recall now includes 55-pound bags sold in Sam's Club stores in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. Previously, 22 bags of food sold in 12 Dollar General stores in Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Louisiana were recalled.
The bags may contain small metal fragments which could have entered the packages during the production process. The metal is not embedded in the food, but may present a risk of injury if consumed.
The 55-pound bags of the dog food have a production code 23100 10731, a lot code printed near the UPC code that reads 432E1KKM03, and a best before date of Aug. 7, 2015. The previous recall included 15-pound bags with production code 23100 10944, lot code 432C1KKM03, and a best before date of Aug. 5, 2015.
Those who have purchased affected product should discard the food or return it to the retailer for a full refund or exchange. There are no reports of injury or illness associated with the affected product, and no other products are affected.
