1980–The St. Louis Cardinals sack Baltimore quarterback Bert Jones 12 times in a 17-10 victory.

2000–The New York Yankees become the first team in more than a quarter-century to win three straight World Series championships, beating the New York Mets 4-2. The Yankees match the Oakland Athletics' three in a row from 1972-74, and win their fourth title in five years.

THE TOLEDO DISTRICT GOLF ASSOCIATION announced three major awards for the 2013 season. Dillon Klein of Mohawk Golf Club was named Player of the Year, Rick Elrod from Highland Meadows was selected as Senior Player of the Year, and John Piper from Bowling Green was the winner of the Burt Silverman Award.

The Toledo City Athletic League will hold the 32nd Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction on Monday, November 4, at the Premier, 4480 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo.
