Student of the week: Sean McKinnon

Sean McKinnon, a senior from Maumee, will attend Ohio State University in the fall to major in psychology and minor in Spanish. He would like to get a doctorate degree in psychology. Sean also enjoys Spanish and United States history. He has a 4.48 grade-point average.

A Regent and BP Scholar, he placed first in Spanish IV Culture at the 2008 University of Toledo Foreign Language Academic Competition. He is a member of the Insignis Society and will be the Heritage Speaker at the 2008 Commencement Ceremony.

Sean is a member of the marching and pep bands, Spanish club, and euchre club. He enjoys waterskiing and is a volunteer for the Lucas County Public Library's Reading Club.

"He doesn't just do a good job," Spanish teacher Lori Szymanski said, "[he] shows a willingness to try new concepts and experiment with sophisticated language."

Sean is the son of Tony and Sandy McKinnon.
