Bowsher graduate Dee Dee Khoury is off to a solid start to her freshman season at Robert Morris College in Chicago.

Khoury, who is a setter, is third on the team in kills with 73 and total attacks with 320. She is second in assists with 255. She has 15 aces and 17 blocks.

On Oct. 7, she had 8 kills in the Eagles 3-0 win over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Judson University (Ill.).

FOOTBALL: St. John s Jesuit graduate Andrew Schaetzke is ranked second on the Georgetown University football team in sacks.

Schaetzke, a 6-foot-4, 235 pound defensive end, has two sacks so far for the Hoyas. Schaetzke, who is starting for Georgetown as a true freshman, has eight total tackles. His two tackles for loss have been for a total of 14 yards.

Another St. John s grad there and a freshman, Rick Rattay, a defensive back from Maumee, has not yet played for the Hoyas. Georgetown, a Football Championship Subdivision program, is off to a 1-4 start.

GOLF: Rossford graduate Jimmy Bell, a sophomore at Owens Community College, won the Defiance College Fall Open on Oct. 11. Bell fired a 72 to take the individual title at Kettering Country Club.

Defiance s Aaron Konold, a sophomore from Anthony Wayne, finished tied for ninth (81).

SOCCER: St. Ursula Academy graduate Amanda Bachmayer has earned the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women s Soccer Player of the Week award.

Bachmayer is a sophomore midfielder at the University of Findlay. The Sylvania native led the Oilers to a pair of GLIAC wins the week of Oct. 5-11.

Bachmayer came up big in Findlay s 5-1 victory over Northwood University, Midland, Mich., by recording her first career hat trick. She scored the first three goals of the game. Her second goal proved to be the game winner. In addition, she had the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Ashland.

On the season, she has scored five goals and two assists. Bachmayer, who graduated from St. Ursula in 2006, was a four-year high school athlete in soccer and track. She received both academic and athletic scholarships to attend the University of Findlay and play soccer for the Oilers.
