•Georgette's Art Showcase, 311 Conant St., will feature the work of the Sunshine staff on display and for sale through this month. t3rd annual "Fall for Paws" from noon-4 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Lucas County Fairground, 1406 Key Street in Maumee. The event is a fund-raiser for 4 Paws Sake Dog Rescue. The day includes food, dog contests, and face painting for the kids. A dog agility demonstration takes place at 1 and 3 p.m. A pet blessing takes place at 2:45. Admission is $5 for the entire family. tAnnual Springfield Community Senior Health Fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 6 at the WPOS Christian Center, 7112 Angola Rd. The day offers 30 health-related presentations of special interest to seniors, including health screenings, Medicare information, block watch and safety programs, community senior services, and medical field professionals. tArea youth ages 5-12 are invited to explore science, math, and creative thinking through the use of LEGO materials as Owens Community College offers fall LEGO Vehicles Engineering classes, Sept. 30-Nov. 5. •34th annual Miss Northwestern Ohio Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America scholarship pageants, will be Nov. 14 in the Defiance Community Auditorium. The pageant committee is seeking female contestants between the ages of 17 and 24, who are single, never been married, or pregnant, and live, work, or go to school in Ohio. The areas of competition are talent, interview, swimsuit, and evening wear. There are no entry fees.
