Bowling Green yard waste drop-off makes limited return

4/13/2010

The Bowling Green yard waste drop-off, at the city's public works facility, 815 East Poe Road, has temporarily reopened, and hours of operation will be daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The drop-off site continues to be for "green waste" only and can be used by Bowling Green residents who have curbside refuse/recycling collection. Brush cannot be dropped off at the site.

"We've listened to the input from our citizens and, working with City Council, decided to reopen the site on a temporary basis while the use of the site or alternatives are more thoroughly examined," according to municipal administrator John Fawcett. "The city has ongoing challenges with its budget but, with citizen cooperation, we hope to minimize the cost of this operation."

Citizens are asked to obey the rules of the drop-off site. Violations should be reported to the police.

The city has canceled its spring curbside brush collection. The next curbside collection will be in October. Residents can take brush to the Wood County Landfill where there is a disposal fee.
