Bittersweet Farms sets annual plant sale

Although it seems lately that Northwest Ohio has only one seasonal color — gloomy gray — a rainbow of flowers and plants is thriving at Bittersweet Farms near Whitehouse, where an annual spring sale will bloom with flats of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and other vegetables.

Garden planters, hanging baskets of annual flowers, and planter boxes of flowers, in addition to the flats of vegetables, will be offered to the public during the sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 6 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at Bittersweet Farms, 12660 Archbold-Whitehouse Rd..

All vegetable plants are started from seed on the farm.

Shoppers can select from peppers, beans, cucumbers, lettuce, cabbage, and other flats available in the horticulture building.

And this year, an art sale will be conducted in the administration building, featuring one-of-a-kind art pieces, created by residents.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the horticulture manager and the executive director.

Other items on sale include four-inch pots of herbs, herb garden planters, glass sun catchers, glass pendants, cards, bird houses, bird feeders, and ceramic pieces.

Bittersweet Farms is celebrating 28 years of service for individuals with autism.

Bittersweet’s mission is to positively impact the lives of individuals with autism and those whose lives they touch.
