Perrysburg residents urged to stick to May 11 deadline to clear streets of brush

Sticks and stones ...

Okay, forget the stones.

But about those sticks, branches, and other brush in the right-of-way in the city of Perrysburg: All of it must be removed before May 11.

The city has completed its brush pickup program, and any brush out at the street is strictly the responsibility of the homeowner. Options for homeowners include taking the brush to the city's compost site.

For residents, there is no charge and the compost site is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday though Friday. Brush can be taken to the city's department of public service, 11980 Roachton Rd., where a copy of the resident's driver license will be made and kept on file.

Inspection of the brush and directions to the city compost site will be provided, and a key to enter the site will be issued. Residents must preregister to use the site.

The second option would be to use the yard waste program and purchase bags or tags for the brush. The cost is $2.25 per bag, and bags can be purchased at several locations in the community.

If residents fail to remove the brush from the city right-of-way by May 11, the city will remove the brush and the owner of the property will be billed for the cost of the work. If the bill isn't paid, it will then be certified by the city clerk to the tax duplicate book as a property assessment.

The minimum charge is $100 for one hour or any part thereof. Each additional hour, or any part thereof, will be charged at the rate of $75 per hour.
