Water treatment plant study OK'd

Perrysburg City Council has approved a $81,569 contract to hire an engineering firm to study how to make the wastewater treatment plant run more efficiently.

Council approved the contract with CTI/O'Brien & Gere, two Toledo companies.

"Currently we use old technology. It's tried and its true, but it is old technology," said Councilman J. Todd Grayson, who was in favor of hiring the firm.

The city's major infrastructure plans call for expanding the treatment plant. The city is in the design phase of an estimated $9 million to $10 million project to expand capacity of the plant adjacent to Orleans Park to 8 million gallons a day from 5.4 million gallons, City Administrator John Alexander said.

He said the design is to be finished by June. The construction time line has not been set, he added.
