A Maumee contractor will plant 223 trees along city streets this year to replace trees that have either died or been removed.
City council recently approved a $32,180 contract with Future Lawn Inc. of Toledo to plant the trees at locations throughout Maumee. The most common species will be little-leaf linden, red maple, crimson king maple, prairie rose crab apple, frontier elm, Norway maple, and red oak.
