Social worker board position will be filled by Toledoan

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft has appointed a University of Toledo program director and assistant professor to the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board.

Theresa Cluse-Tolar, of Toledo, who replaces Glenn Abraham of Dayton on the board, will serve a three-year term. The board oversees the grading of examinations of those applying to be professional counselors and social workers. Members receive $18.98 per hour plus expenses.

Ms. Cluse-Tolar, also an assistant professor at the University of Toledo, received her bachelor's degree from Ohio University and her master's and doctorate degrees from Ohio State University.

Port Clinton Mayor Thomas Manning Brown was appointed to the state Forestry Advisory Council, which advises the state's chief of the Division of Forestry and Reclamation. Members are reimbursed for expenses only.

Mr. Brown, whose term will expire at the end of February, 2005, received his bachelor's degree from Rio Grande College and his master's in education from UT. He replaces Jackson Hedges of Lebanon, whose term expired.

Mr. Taft reappointed Aaren L. Stephens, personal insurance consultant for Knight Crockett Miller Insurance Group, to the Ohio Fair Plan Underwriting Association Board of Governors. The board oversees administration of a program helping urban property owners afford basic property insurance that they are unable to obtain through normal channels.

Her term will expire in two years. Members receive no compensation.
