Granata to direct regional development effort for state

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Department of Development yesterday formally announced the appointment of Eileen M. Granata as the state's regional economic development director for the nine-county Toledo region.

Ms. Granata actually began her new $63,000-a-year job on April 16, serving as liaison with local business leaders, elected officials, and economic development groups.

"Eileen has been working for many years to facilitate economic development in the Toledo region and she has a profound understanding of the issues and opportunities unique to Northwest Ohio," Chief Economic Development Officer Mark Barbash said. "Her strong background and impressive record of managing large and significant business attraction projects will be a positive force in the area's business expansion efforts."

Ms. Granata had worked as interim chief operating officer and in several other positions with the Regional Growth Partnership; led her own economic analysis business, Granata Economic; and worked as corporate counsel, director of research, and other posts for the Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce.

She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Toledo and a law degree from the University of Toledo.
