HILLIARD A dump truck has struck and killed a crossing guard and injured a second-grade boy in front a suburban Columbus school.

Hilliard Police Chief Rodney Garnett says Diane Sharp died at Ohio State University Medical Center about 90 minutes the accident, which occurred around 9 a.m. Thursday outside Scioto Darby Elementary.

The boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. He has not been identified and his condition is not available.

SBE Trucking owner Dean Stevens tells WCMH-TV that the dump truck's driver reported that he wasn't speeding and saw nothing. Stevens says his South Bloomingville, Ohio, company is deeply saddened.
