House bill allocates $2M for Camp Perry barracks

5/26/2008

PORT CLINTON A $2 million federal appropriation included in a defense-authorization bill that was approved last week by the U.S. House of Representatives will pay for an 80-bed barracks at Camp Perry, U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R., Bowling Green) has announced.

Camp Perry serves as an important training facility for the Ohio National Guard and is host to national shooting matches, Mr. Latta said.

This funding will provide much-needed improvements to ensure our soldiers have the best facilities possible.

The defense bill still must be approved by the U.S. Senate and be signed by President Bush before the appropriation becomes official.

David Popp, Mr. Latta s press secretary, said he is unaware of any opposition to the Camp Perry funding.
