Kovacik reappointed to Clean Ohio Council

COLUMBUS Thomas Kovacik, a onetime city of Toledo chief operating officer, has been reappointed to the Clean Ohio Council, Gov. Ted Strickland announced.

Mr. Kovacik is to serve through 2009. The council awards grants and makes loans to help with brownfield cleanup.

Mr. Kovacik, director of the Transportation Advocacy Group of Northwest Ohio, has been an environmental affairs consultant to government and business, including the proposed FDS Coke LLC plant project on the Toledo-Oregon border.

He was Mayor Carty Finkbeiner s chief operating officer and Toledo safety director from March, 1996, to April, 1999.

Before that, he was employed by the city for 19 years, including seven years as utilities director. He is a former president of Envirosafe Services of Ohio Inc., and of Great Lakes N-Viro.
