EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police in western Michigan say two children who they believed were abducted by their 28-year-old father have been safely returned home.

East Grand Rapids Public Safety Chief Mark Herald said the father of 1-year-old Kamdyn Kairis Lee and 3-year-old Vernon LeeTadd Williams dropped them off at their mother's home about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities earlier in the day issued an Amber Alert for the children. The alert said they were last seen Monday night near the Grand Rapids-area community of Wyoming with Vernon Lee Williams.

Herald says officers still are investigating the circumstances behind why the children were taken. No arrests have been made.
