COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football fans who named their children after coach Jim Tressel say they’re not second-guessing that choice now that he has resigned amid an NCAA investigation.

The Columbus Dispatch reports birth records show 20 Ohio newborns have been named Tressel since the celebrated coach led the Buckeyes to a national championship in January 2003.

The first in that group was Tressel Webb, who’s now 8 and has embraced his name. People sometimes call him “Coach,” and he dressed as his namesake for Halloween, wearing a sweater vest and powdered hair.

His mother, Pam Schubach of Clyde, says she still respects Jim Tressel, who resigned two weeks ago.

The NCAA has been investigating reports about Ohio State players selling or trading memorabilia for cash and tattoos.
