Columbus to add 14 emergency sirens
3/24/2013COLUMBUS — The city of Columbus is adding 14 emergency sirens around Ohio's capital city.
WCMH in Columbus reports that the Franklin County emergency agency director says a survey indicates some 85 percent of people count on sirens to warn them of tornadoes or other emergencies.
The city will spend $120,000 and use grants totaling more than $136,000. Sirens will be placed based on population, coverage areas, and other factors. Work to install the sirens is expected to begin in late April or early May.
