Northeast Ohio teen girls charged in bomb threat

CANFIELD, Ohio — Authorities say two teens in a northeast Ohio have been criminally charged with making a school bomb threat.

The two girls, ages 15 and 16, are charged with misdemeanor counts of making false alarms and obstructing official business for a bomb threat that closed Canfield High School, near Youngstown, on March 7.

The (Youngstown) Vindicator reports that the charges came one week after an 11-year-old girl was charged with making a bomb threat at the district's middle school.

Police said they determined the two high school sophomores wrote a threatening note that was found in the high school gymnasium. Parents have been cooperative, but police said no reason has been given as to why the girls decided to leave the note.

Neither of the bomb threats was considered credible.
