BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — The National Park Service says a park in northeast Ohio is one of the most visited in the nation.

The park service says that the Cuyahoga Valley National Park was the 10th most visited of 59 national parks last year.

The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reports that the Brecksville park's roughly 2.3 million recreational visits puts it right behind Acadia National Park in Maine.

Great Smoky Mountains, touching Tennessee and North Carolina, was the top national park with 9.6 million visitors.

Cuyahoga Valley was dedicated in 1975 as a national recreation area, and became a national park in 2000.

One of Cuyahoga Valley's best rankings was in 2004, when it was the third most-visited national park.
