Teen fatally stabbed outside central Ohio bar

COSHOCTON, Ohio — Police in the Ohio town of Coshocton say a teenager was fatally stabbed outside a bar there over the weekend.

Coshocton police said 18-year-old Matthew Gadfield was stabbed just after midnight Sunday. Witnesses reported hearing an argument outside the Cedar Street Inn just prior to Gadfield being found bleeding from chest wounds. He died at a local hospital.

Police had a suspect in custody but haven't released his name.

Coshocton City Schools Superintendent David Hire said Gadfield was a senior at the city high school. Extra counseling personnel will be available today for students.

Coshocton is northeast of Columbus.
