DAYTON, Ohio — A student in Dayton is headed to court after being charged with hitting a 71-year-old teacher.

The Dayton Daily News reports that the student caused a disturbance in a classroom at Longfellow Academy on Friday before allegedly striking the teacher.

According to police, the student said she didn’t like the teacher, and if she had to go into the classroom, “something was going to happen.”

The student allegedly stood up during a disturbance in the classroom, pushed the teacher and then hit her on the left side of the face.

The teacher complained of pain, but it’s not clear if she was treated for injuries.

The student was taken to a juvenile detention facility.
