FRANKLIN, Ohio  — A flight instructor and his student have walked away from a small plane crash after making an emergency landing in a southwest Ohio field.

The Dayton Daily News reports the aircraft lost power and made an emergency landing Monday evening south of Franklin, in Warren County. The plane had taken off from the Red Steward Airfield near Waynesville.

Sgt. Scott Bierer of the State Highway Patrol says the instructor and student were in the process of turning around and heading back to the airfield when the aircraft lost power.

Authorities said the plane would remain in the field until the Federal Aviation Administration conducts an investigation.
