KETTERING — A southwest Ohio festival is celebrating everything bacon.

The Dayton suburb of Kettering is hosting its first Bacon Fest today.

At least 16 area restaurants plan to offer variations of bacon such as chocolate-covered bacon, bacon-and-pineapple pancakes, bacon cole slaw, bacon maple ice cream, and catfish and bacon.

Organizers tell The Dayton Daily News that they expect a big turnout based on buzz about the event. Most items will cost $3 each.

They say the restaurants and chefs taking part are looking forward to showing their creativity.

Festivals featuring bacon are becoming increasingly common across the country.
