COLUMBUS — The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati can continue to welcome visitors younger than 21 but will have to have employees accompany such patrons anytime they’re inside the facility under changes made by lawmakers and regulators.

Lawmakers had required that younger visitors have escorts while on the casino gaming floor. The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports the Ohio Casino Control Commission voted Wednesday to designate anywhere inside the casino as the gaming floor. That means anyone under the legal gambling age will need a state-licensed escort inside the building.

The Cincinnati site had been allowing underage visitors to follow a specific path to the restaurants and event center if they were with someone over 21.

Ohio’s other three voter-approved casinos — in Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo — don’t admit visitors under 21.
