Ohio group including mayoral candidate, church pastor sets record with fire stunt

CLEVELAND — Twenty-one people wearing extensive protective gear were set on fire in downtown Cleveland in a stunt that set a new record.

With a paying crowd of about 1,500 people, The Plain Dealer reports that the group of 21 were set ablaze on Saturday night and burned for 32 seconds.

The previous record for the number of people burning simultaneously was set in 2009 with 17 people.

The same man who pulled off the 2009 stunt organized Saturday’s.

Among those who agreed to be lit on fire were a Cleveland mayoral candidate, a morning radio DJ and a church pastor.

After being doused in lighter fluid and set on fire, the group of 21 walked slowly around and waved their arms and legs. The fires were put out with fire extinguishers and wet towels.
