LORAIN, Ohio — Police in northern Ohio say an 11-year-old boy has been charged with setting a playground on fire.

The fire burned down a playground structure on the Washington School playground in Lorain, west of Cleveland, on Sunday. The 11-year-old quickly confessed and was charged with arson.

Witnesses told police that they saw a boy start the fire by spraying lighter fluid on the playground set and lighting it. The boy then ran to his house across the street.

The boy tearfully confessed after police met with him and his grandmother. He was taken to the county juvenile detention facility.
