Police: man arrested in fatal shooting of 11-year-old girl, charged with reckless homicide
1/12/2014CINCINNATI — Police say they have arrested a man in the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old girl in Cincinnati.
Police said a news release Sunday that they arrested 35-year-old Deandre Kelley Sunday on a charge of reckless homicide in the shooting death of Shanti Lanza.
Jail records did not show an attorney for Kelley.
Police say they found the girl at a home in a Cincinnati neighborhood when they responded about 3 a.m. to a report of a person shot at that location.
The release says the girl was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center where she died.
Police did not immediately release any other details about the shooting.
Media outlets in Cincinnati were reporting that Kelley was the girl’s father, but police said Sunday that they could not confirm that.
