Ohio seeks 'Golden Buckeye' to join Senior Citizens Hall of Fame

COLUMBUS — Do you know a “Golden Buckeye” who really shines? The Ohio Department of Aging is accepting nominations for the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.

The department says nominees will be evaluated on the impact of their contributions in such areas as the arts, business, education, science, health, and community activism.

Department director Bonnie Burman says the goal is honor the vital roles played by older Ohioans, while promoting the benefits of active, productive and purposeful living at all stages of life.

Nominees must be at least 60 years old and are native-born Ohioans or residents who have lived in the state at least 10 years.

More than 350 older Ohioans have been inducted since 1978.
