Authorities investigate blast that leveled vacant Ohio home, damaged more than 40 structures

ASSOCIATED PRESS

DAYTON — Authorities are investigating an explosion that destroyed a vacant home and affected more than 40 structures in southwest Ohio.

The Dayton Fire Department says it is looking into the cause of the blast that occurred at about 10:15 a.m. today. Two people suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Fire officials said the explosion also effectively destroyed a neighboring vacant home and a garage. Both will require demolition. One other vacant home was significantly damaged. Nearby homes and garages also experienced broken windows and other minor damage.

The city has closed the street and is working to remove the debris.
