COLUMBUS — Ohio officials say computers, other electronic equipment and gold jewelry are among the surplus property items for sale at a state auction.

The auction today in Columbus at the General Services Division of the Ohio Department of Administrative Services also includes office furniture and other miscellaneous property.

The surplus state property may be damaged or at the end of its government use. It also may include items seized by law enforcement officials.

The auction allows the public to purchase items at reduced prices and enables the state to recover part of its initial investment. Purchased items must be paid for in full the day of the sale.

State officials say Ohio’s surplus auctions generated more than $3.9 million during fiscal year 2013.
