Ohio Republicans outraise Democratic opponents; GOP governor up with $9.3 million in bank

COLUMBUS — Incumbent Republicans have outraised Democrats this reporting period, as Ohio’s GOP Gov. John Kasich built on his fundraising lead over Democratic opponent Ed FitzGerald.

Campaign finance reports filed today show Kasich raised $1.8 million, more than twice the $835,572 raised by FitzGerald.

The fundraising leaves Kasich with $9.3 million in the bank, compared with $1.9 million for FitzGerald.

Attorney General Mike DeWine raised $770,207 compared with $458,409 by his Democratic opponent David Pepper. DeWine has $2.8 million in the bank compared to Pepper’s $1.4 million.

Treasurer Josh Mandel raised $630,973 for $3 million in the bank compared to $523,341 raised by opponent Connie Pillich for $1.5 million in the bank.

Secretary of State Jon Husted also outraised opponent Nina Turner, while Auditor David Yost outraised his opponent, John Carney.
