COLUMBUS — Gas prices are down in Ohio at the start of this Fourth of July holiday week.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.63 in today‘‍s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s 11 cents cheaper than a week ago, and it’s notably higher than the average of about $3.32 per gallon at this time last year.

Today’‍s national average was slightly higher at about $3.68 per gallon, essentially unchanged from a week ago.

AAA estimates 41 million people in the U.S. will travel at least 50 miles from home during the holiday period. That projection covers the period from Wednesday through Sunday this week.
