DAYTON — A medal of appreciation from the Korean government to U.S. military service members who served in the Korean War will be presented to veterans of that conflict at a ceremony in southwestern Ohio.

The deputy consul general of the Korean Consulate of Chicago is presenting the Ambassador Medal for Peace to veterans on July 19 at the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Dayton.

Veterans who served in Korea or on Korean waters from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, should contact the Dayton VA Medical Center by Monday if they want to apply for a medal to be awarded at the ceremony.

Korean War veterans unable to attend the ceremony can obtain a medal later by applying to the Korean Consulate General in Chicago.
