Ohio Auditor David Yost has given his office’s award with distinction to the Lucas County Auditor’s Office for its clean 2013 financial audit report.

To qualify, local government and school districts must submit a timely comprehensive annual financial report that has no findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, or other irregularities.

The award will be presented to county Auditor Anita Lopez this morning.

“This is a significant achievement for Lucas County. Lucas County elected officials and their staff have worked diligently with the auditor’s office to get each departments’ finances aligned,” Ms. Lopez said in a statement.

Of the 22 county auditor financial records reviewed his year, six offices have been given awards with distinction, a spokesman for Mr Yost said. “Clean and accurate record-keeping are the foundation for good government, and the taxpayers can take pride in your commitment to accountability,” Mr. Yost said in a letter congratulating the county auditor.

The state auditor inspects the financial audit reports of 5,800 government offices annually.
