Streeter named exec of the year by American Business Awards

Libbey's CEO to ring closing bell at NYSE today

CHICAGO -- Stephanie Streeter, the chief executive officer of Toledo-based glass maker Libbey Inc., was named executive of the year in the manufacturing category Monday at the 11th annual American Business Awards.

Ms. Streeter was presented with a Gold Stevie award at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel.

Pamela Clark of New Heights Educational Group in Defiance was named executive of the year in the category of Diversified Services including Nonprofits and Retail. Her company won a Bronze Stevie in the company of the year category for nonprofits and governmental organizations.

Libbey's Ms. Streeter was one of three finalists in the manufacturing category, along with Alex Molinaroli of Johnson Controls in Milwaukee and Michael Araten of K'NEX in Hatfield, Pa.

Ms. Streeter has been Libbey's CEO since August, 2011. Last year she announced a plan to reduce costs, boost efficiency, and accelerate growth in specific markets.

In 2012, sales were up slightly to $825.3 million and income from operations grew 28.1 percent.

Ms. Streeter is scheduled to ring the New York Stock Exchange's closing bell today in honor of the 20th anniversary of the company’s original listing on the exchange.

Libbey also is marking its 125th anniversary in Toledo this year. 

Shares of Libbey’s stock closed up almost 2 percent at $24.09 on Monday, the first time Libbey’s stock has closed above $24 per share in more than six years. The last time shares closed above $24 per share was June 4, 2007, when it closed at $24.13
