Game review: Ridge Racer ****

Namco's Ridge Racer series is raw arcade racing all the way, and that's a good thing. To me, titles like this that are very forgiving and pick-up-and-play friendly are perfect for a portable gaming unit like the PSP. No brains, just fun. And the visuals are superb with plenty of background eye candy passing you by as you speed along.

The vehicles and tracks are vividly detailed with butter-smooth races from start to finish. As with most auto racing titles, the movielike replays provide a big "wow" factor and really showcase the new player. Nothing new here but a great transfer to the PSP.
