DETROIT — Ian Kinsler hit a three-run homer and the Tigers overcame three errors to take down the Indians 7-5 today at Comerica Park.
Tigers starter Justin Verlander labored through five innings, allowing three runs over five innings — none of which were earned. But Kinsler’s blast off Danny Salazar pushed the Tigers ahead for good in the fifth inning.
Salazar — the all-or-nothing right-hander who in his last start became the first pitcher since at least 1900 to record 10 strikeouts in less than four innings — allowed five runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.
Tigers closer Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth to earn his second save.
