Brad Evans was named head women's soccer coach yesterday at the University of Toledo.

Evans has been the men's and women's coach at Ashland University for the past five seasons. He replaces R.J. Anderson, who resigned in January after six seasons.

At Ashland, Evans's women's teams were 67-26-2, including 38-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, winning the championship the last four years and qualifying for the NCAA Division II Tournament. Ashland reached the NCAA regionals the last two years and the Final Four in 1998.

The Ashland men's team was 45-40-4 under Evans.

Evans is a native of Hudson, Ohio. He played at Wooster, helping the Scots to two NCAA Division III playoff berths. He graduated from Wooster in 1992 and has a master's degree from Ashland.
