4 Rockets, 1 Falcon on All-MAC first team

Toledo has four first-team selections on the All-Mid-American Conference first team, which was announced yesterday, while Bowling Green has one.

The Rockets, West Division co-champions, will defend their title Saturday at East champion Marshall in the MAC championship.

UT placed center Chris Tuminello and offensive tackle Nick Kaczur on the first-team offense and linebackers David Gardner and Tom Ward on the first-team defense.

BG's first-team pick was receiver Robert Redd on offense.

Miami's Jared Parseghian, a St. John's Jesuit graduate, was named first-team kicker. His teammate, Findlay's Ben Roethlisberger, was named the second-team quarterback.

The All-MAC team, voted on by the league's 14 head coaches, includes 21 honorees from last year. Eight members are repeat first-team selections, including Redd, Marshall's Byron Leftwich, Darius Watts and Steve Sciullo, Ball State's Marcus Merriweather and Western Michigan's Mobolaji Afariogun on offense, and Miami's Matt Robillard and Northern Illinois' Vince Thompson on defense.

Tickets for Saturday's MAC championship in Huntington, W.Va., go on sale today. Fans may purchase tickets at the UT box office at Savage Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, by phone at 419-530-GOLD or online at www.utrockets.com.

The cost is $24, UT students will be admitted free with valid student ID.

Tickets for the Motor City Bowl will go on sale at the ticket office at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Prices are $45 and $75.
