Rockets well back in regional tournament

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Toledo finds itself in a hole after the first day of play at the NCAA men's regional golf tournament at Kansas State.

The Rockets shot a team score of 295, 7-over par, and landed in a tie for 22nd place. The top 10 of 27 teams in the three-day event advance to the NCAA Championship.

Toledo was led by junior Brad Heaven and senior David Jones, both of whom shot 1-over 73 to put them in a tie for 58th place. Richard Kilpatrick shot 74, Justin Bertsch 75 and Sean McTernan 77.

Illinois (275) is in first place.
